The Irish Wolfhounds Youth Select Team pit themselves against a very talented Pride team based at Filton College in Bristol. The team comes with a great pedigree of players and staff who have matched up against the best in Europe over the years and came out on top.
Their last visit to Ireland in August 2013 was a game against the Greendale Falcons of Manitoba in the Gathering Bowl at Tallaght. They competed well, losing narrowly.
Head Coach Ben Herod has always been a close friend of Irish Football and is pleased to be returning. “Our last visit to Ireland was very memorable for the guys who played and we have waited a long time to have this opportunity to come back and play against the Youth Select Team. We hope we can help in some way to develop and challenge the Irish Football programme.”
Alan Orr, the General Manager of the IAFA National Football programme and personal friend of Ben Herod said, “The Bristol Academy are probably one of the best in Europe and over the years have developed players who have went on to win scholarships in college football in the states. It offers us a great insight into what can be achieved and we would certainly like to emulate some of the things the Academy has done since its foundation in 2008. Head Coach Ben Herod and his staff are always willing to pass on their experience and knowledge and we welcome that in helping us to develop our young players.”
The game kicks off at Westmanstown Sport Centre at 12 noon on 5th October and we hope you can join us to support both teams.
